Thank You Clowes

Twelve years ago we moved in on a short term agreement – this evening the band will be having their last rehearsal at Clowes Memorial Methodist Church before the move to their new band room in Hessle this weekend. The band would like to express sincere thanks to Clowes Memorial Methodist Church for accommodating us since 2006, for their support of the Band and all they have done for us. We look forward to settling into our new home and the good times that await us in Hessle.

A Big Thank You!

Christmas is always a particularly busy time for the band with traditional Christmas Concerts and the small group carolling sessions that started with various Lights Nights at the end of November.

Carolling is important to us as a means of spreading the Christmas message, helping get everyone into the festive mood and raising much needed funds to help with the everyday running costs of the band.

We are therefore grateful to all of the organisations and businesses that engaged us or allowed us to play on their premises or for their events this year, to our friends and supporters who helped out with collecting, and to the countless members of the public who have been particularly generous this year.

Organisations and businesses that we would like to thank include:

  • Princes Quay (Santa Parade)
  • Skirlaugh Parish Council
  • Hessle Town Council
  • Coletta and Tyson
  • Sledmere House
  • St. Stephens, Hull
  • Paragon Interchange, Hull
  • Hull Street Food Night
  • South Holderness Technology College
  • Beverley Festival of Christmas
  • Tesco Beverley
  • Tesco Hornsea
  • Asda Bilton
  • Asda Kingswood

Wishing Everyone a Very Happy Christmas and a Peaceful New Year.

Our 20 minute set included the March Black Knight, Guardian of My Soul, April in Paris, played by our Flugel Player Mike Waudby, Brass Machine, a four cornet and soprano feature, and finished with Bach’s Organ Fugue. The Band were delighted when out of 11 competing bands we were announced as the overall winners. Congratulations to our friends at Emley who’s principal cornet Cameron Chapman picked up best Soloist, and our friends at Shepherd Group Youth Band who won best youth band.
